Caribbean House Evolution Turks and Caicos
No new date set yet.
Caribbean House Evolution is a music festival in the Turks and Caicos Islands that typically takes place over three days in mid-summer. It begins with a club night on Providenciales on the Friday, but the main event is a mega party (by Turks and Caicos standards) on the Sunday at uninhabited Water Cay.
As the name suggests, the festival is centered on the Caribbean house music genre. Expect electronic beats.
Caribbean House Evolution has grown significantly since it first launched in 2014—some tourists make the trip to Turks and Caicos specifically to attend. The boat party can easily draw 500 attendees.
What Happens at Caribbean House Evolution
In the days leading up to the beach party, several other events are held on Providenciales, including a club night that typically happens on the Friday at Cielo in Ports of Call Plaza. To attend these parties, you'll need to purchase tickets.
The main event of the festival is the boat party on Sunday. Starting at around noon, boats of all sizes and types—more than 50 during a typical year—make the short trip over to Water Cay from Providenciales and anchor off the beach to listen to Caribbean house music spun by local and international DJs.
The event features dancers and attendees wearing glittery, bejeweled beachwear and dancing on the beach. You can either kick back and relax with friends on a boat, or jump into the action on the beach.
This party is always held near what locals call The Pine or Big Lone Tree, a lone casuarina tree on the island's north coast. The boat party is a free event, but you’ll need a boat to get there.
How to Attend
To get to the beach party, you’ll need to either charter a boat or hop on a friend’s boat. Some companies, such as Caicos Dream Tours, offer private charters to Water Cay during Caribbean House Evolution.
If you’re booking a private charter, consider combining your trip to Water Cay with a visit to some of the other interesting sites in the area, such as Half Moon Bay, Dellis Cay, or the sandbars at Fort George Cay.
What to Bring and Other Considerations
There are a few vendors that sell food and drink on the beach during the event, but if you have specific dietary restrictions or preferences, it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and beverages.
If you’re attending for the first time, remember to also pack reef-safe sunscreen. Water Cay is a low-lying island with little shade on the beach—expect to be in full sun for the entirety of the day.
Water Cay is uninhabited. There are no bathrooms on the island.
The body glitter that many people wear to the festival is actually a source of microplastic pollution. Glitter can pollute the terrestrial environment and surrounding ocean (and research suggests it’s not great for the human body, either).
Some brands do sell biodegradable glitter, such as those made from plant cellulose, but science suggests they may not be much better for the environment. Consider forgoing glitter altogether to keep the island Beautiful By Nature.
