Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands — Zhavargo Jolly is the new Minister of Tourism for the Turks and Caicos Islands, after the Progressive National Party (PNP) politician was appointed and sworn in to government cabinet Thursday morning at a ceremony held at St. Monica’s Anglican Church, Providenciales.

The position was formerly held by PNP cabinet member Hon. Josephine Connolly, who was Minister of Tourism from 2021 to 2025.

Cabinet appointments were made by Turks and Caicos Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, acting on the advice of Premier Washington Misick.

The cabinet appointment comes less than a week after the PNP won the 2025 Turks and Caicos general elections in a significant victory against the People's Democratic Movement (PDM), securing 16 of the 19 available seats in the House of Assembly.

Hon. Jolly’s ministry will also oversee agriculture, fisheries, and the environment.

"Tourism has always been lucrative, but now it’s time to ensure that Turks and Caicos Islanders are the primary beneficiaries of that success," Hon. Jolly wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday evening. "Our environment, the very foundation of our success, will be protected for future generations."

Nearly all cabinet roles have been reassigned as the PNP enters a second consecutive term. The only cabinet member to keep her original ministry was Hon. Rachel Taylor, who has been Minister of Education since 2021.

Former Deputy Premier E. Jay Saunders, who Hon. Misick stripped of his role in 2024, has been appointed Minister of Innovation, Technology and Information.
