Long Beach South Caicos

Editor's Comments
This secluded and tranquil coast is the perfect place to relax and explore for a few hours. The scenery is great and the beach is great.
4-star rating for Long Beach by Visit Turks and Caicos Islands
The beautiful coastal vegetation at Long Beach.

This beautiful beach is found on the eastern side of the long northern peninsula of South Caicos. At around 1.25 miles (2 km) in length, the white sand coast here is the best beach on the island. Similar to the popular Bight Beach on Providenciales, lush seagrass thrives a distance off the coast after an initial interval of perfect sandy bottom.

Although incredibly scenic, the only development in the area is the Sailrock residential community and resort.

The likewise beautiful coasts of Plandon Cay Cut Beach to the north and Valley Bay Beach to the south border Long Beach. The abandoned US Coast Guard LORAN station, circa 1959, is another fascinating feature nearby.

It’s best to budget a couple of hours for this general area when visiting. Exploring the surrounding wetlands, coastal cliffs and vistas can occupy a good bit of time.

There are no extensive reefs close to shore, so snorkeling is a bit limited. The seagrass beds are home to conch, stingrays, and turtles, but there is no single main spot.

Getting Here

Unfortunately, there are no easy accesses to Long Beach. On the northern end, several rough tracks lead to the coast, however, these are in a quite poor condition and it’ll be necessary to cover much of the distance on foot.

When driving from the Cockburn Harbour region, the access tracks can be found on your left 0.5 to 1 mile (0.75 to 1.5 km) after passing Sailrock.

Compared to the wild and remote beaches of Middle Caicos (which can be miles from any building or settlement), Long Beach isn’t really remote. We do however recommend taking plenty of drinking water in case of vehicle breakdowns.
