South Caicos Hotels & Resorts
The quiet island of South Caicos has three main accommodations, which consist of two luxury resorts and a small hotel. Salterra Resort & Spa is the island's newest luxury property. This expansive South Caicos hotel boasts 100 guest rooms and suites, and offers several pools, six restaurants onsite, and a wealth of water sports from its location on Salterra Beach in the main town of Cockburn Harbour.
The more budget-friendly Ocean and Beach Resort is located nearby. Another resort, Sailrock South Caicos, is found on the secluded Long Beach on the northern peninsula of South Caicos.
While South Caicos has quite a few varied and impressive coasts, only a few beaches are excellent for general swimming. Salterra Beach and The Cove Beach offer the finest ocean conditions.
Amenities
Guest amenities at the South Caicos hotels vary depending on the resort. At Salterra, guests have access to kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear, as well as a kids club. Through its Adventures by Salterra program, the resort also offers snorkeling trips to the island's coral reefs, guided bonefishing, and yoga classes, among other experiences.
Sailrock likewise includes the use of some non-motorized water sports equipment, including Hobie Cat sailboats, for its guests.
The luxury South Caicos resorts offer many of the amenities you would expect of a high-end property on the main island of Providenciales or in another Caribbean destination. Wi-Fi and air-conditioning are standard, as are one or more resort pools, an onsite spa, onsite dining, and concierge service. In the rooms and suites, you can expect pool and beach towels, a coffee and tea maker, a hair dryer, and daily housekeeping, among other in-room amenities.
International Flights to South Caicos
The only scheduled international flight to South Caicos is a Miami—South Caicos (XSC) flight offered by American Airlines on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Travelers departing on regularly scheduled flights from other cities must first land at the Providenciales International Airport (PLS)—the country's largest and primary airport—before traveling onwards to South Caicos.
Traveling to South Caicos from Providenciales
There are two regularly scheduled ways to get from Providenciales to South Caicos: a domestic flight on a small plane or a passenger ferry. Both are similar in cost.
The flight is the faster option and usually takes under 20 minutes. Carrier interCaribbean offers several daily flights, typically on small twin turboprop aircraft. These aircraft are not very large, so there may be luggage constraints, especially for those bringing water sports equipment such as kiteboarding gear.
Caribbean Cruisin' offers a twice-weekly passenger ferry service, which takes under two hours each way. The ferry may be the better choice for those with large amounts of luggage.
Charter flights and ferry services can be arranged as well, and may make sense for bigger groups.
Development and Real Estate
A former salt island, South Caicos has begun to see a change in its development landscape with the completion of two major luxury resort projects in recent years. Prior to 2017, the island's economy was primarily centered around a small-scale fishery harvesting conch and lobster.

Vacation Rental Villas
At this time, there are no rental villas or bed and breakfast accommodations available on South Caicos, other than what’s offered through the full-service resorts.
Booking and Reservations
Booking directly with your chosen resort is typically the most effective way to get the best rate on your room, suite, or resort villa. As with any vacation, it's recommended to book your accommodation well ahead of your intended travel dates.
All Turks and Caicos hotels must charge Government Tourism Tax (12%) and a mandatory service charge (10%). Taxes may or may not be included in room rates listed online.
